is the newest FDA approved fractional radio frequency device
specifically designed to dramatically improve the tone, texture and
overall quality of skin. It provides a safe, non-invasive, long-lasting
solution to a wide range of skin concerns including wrinkles, acne
scars, uneven pigmentation and stretch marks. This fully customized
treatment is an FDA approved method using micro-focused fractional
radio frequency energy which deeply heats the skin rather than burns it
like other lasers, and gives much quicker rejuvenation after facial
remodeling and resurfacing due to it’s decreased healing time. It can be
used in all skin types, even those with dark or ethnic skin as the
radio frequency energy can target specific pigment changes.
Why Have Venus Viva?
provides a non-surgical option for the effective treatment of many skin
conditions, including those which are generally treatment-resistant. Venus Viva
succeeds where many alternatives have failed, all in a delivery system
that is quick and comfortable. Patients appreciate the gentle
therapeutic process that provides immediate results with little to no
downtime, and requires only one or a few short treatment sessions.
Visible results can be seen in all skin types but are
particularly more exciting in those with to diverse skin concerns, where
other treatments in the past weren’t options or caused harm (ie. burns,
discoloration, poor results). While the therapy provides long-term
correction of existing skin conditions, time can introduce addition
changes to skin texture and structure. For optimal results, patients
should return for brief maintenance treatments every few months to
Venus Viva Treatments?
Venus Viva treatment process is performed as a non-invasive outpatient
procedure and involves minimal discomfort. The surgeons will begin by
having the patient assume a comfortable position that allows ready
access to the area of skin to be targeted. For treatments delivered to
the face, this means lying face-up on an examination table. Prior to
treatment the area is numbed with a topical numbering creams for roughly
30-45 minutes to ensure there is no pain during the procedure. The
physician prepares for the procedure by gently moving the patient’s head
so that the target treatment area is in the most appropriate position.
The physician will administer the Venus Viva treatment using a small probe
that resembles something like a hair dryer. This is placed against the
skin surface and a sound is emitted for about one second as a
radio frequency pulse is delivered to the skin. The probe is then moved
to the adjacent, untreated area and the process is repeated moving in a
step-wise fashion across the skin surface. In this way, the entire
target area can receive full strength treatment in as little as 15
minutes. During some portions of the therapy, the physician may stabilize
the probe by placing his free hand along the skin but as with the entire
procedure, this requires only a light touch.
The fractional radio frequency pulses emitted from the probe are
ablative, meaning the cause very small microscopic pores in the skin of
heated dead skin cells, which later promote new collagen fibrils. This
can induce warming and sensitivity in the skin that usually subsides
within a few hours. To combat this sensitivity, we have all our patients
take Allegra prior to their treatment. For some patients,
this sensitivity is similar in intensity to a mild sunburn that can last
up to 36 hours. For this reason, some patients request the use of a
mild topical numbing agent before beginning Venus Viva treatments. Such
treatment should be applied 30 minutes before the start of a treatment
session. Very few patients have complained or given poor feed back about
the Venus Viva Treatments.
Most patients resume normal activities very shortly after a Venus
Viva treatment. After the session, it is recommended to wait 24 - 48 hours
before using any skin product and 48 hours before using a mineral
make-up on the treated area. Sun exposure should be avoided for the
first 48 hours after a treatment.
The Venus Viva treatment process has been approved by the FDA . This is based on the evidence
collected through numerous studies demonstrating the safety and efficacy
of this treatment method. The medicinal application of radio frequency
therapeutics, in general, is a treatment class that has proven safe over
time. In comparison to other types of skin resurfacing techniques that
can cause the skin to become weepy and ooze, radio frequency allows only
minimal skin sensitization and a substantially quicker return to normal
Are You A Candidate?
Venus Viva treatment is appropriate for all skin types and colors. It
is safe and effective for both men and women of all ages. It can be
used to effectively treat even tough-to-cure skin conditions such as
acne scars, large pores, uneven texture, excess pigmentation, stretch
marks, loose skin and wrinkles.
Venus Viva should not be used on hair-bearing areas such as eyebrows.
It is also inappropriate for areas of the skin that are tattooed.
Therefore, patients with permanent make-up should not receive Venus Viva
treatments in these areas.
Most Venus Viva treatment plans are carried out over three to four 15
minute sessions. There is generally a two - four week break between each
treatment session. A short period of time lasting a few hours to a few
days is required after each session before returning to normal
activities. Patients should plan their time commitments according to
these requirements in order to achieve the best results during a Venus
Viva treatment program.
